More and more people are now using the Pinterest "fad," and now people are using this to tag or "pin" singles using the popular tool.
People have the ability to browse singles and their pictures using this but don't actually get to see their profile. This in turn will drive more people to the online dating sites.
However, experts warn not to use the "pin-ing" tool to "blast" people, such as this person took me on a bad date, or other things of that nature, and pin their profile.
This also could bring a new, younger market for the rapidly growing Pinterest.

Good news for anyone who uses the online dating sites consisting of Match.com, Eharmony, and Spark Networks. These 3 sites signed a joint statement that they were all about providing safety and security online.
"Consumers should be able to use websites without the fear of being scammed or targeted," Attorney General Kamala D. Harris said in a statement.
With 40 million Americans using online dating and spending over $1 billion dollars on the services, it is not a shock to see more security measures being implemented. But will this be enough to prevent more harm done to people who may use these sites? Some consider online dating as more of a buyer beware site but if you are paying for use, should you have to worry about who you may be going on a date with?

Video Chat to Increase in Online Dating
Stargazer Online Video Chat announced that it plans to become part of the online dating scene. As the article states, 20% of Americans will be in a relationship from someone they have met online. The Stargazer video chat will allow people through video chat, voice and text messaging in public and private chat rooms.
I think video chat is a great way for people to meet but there are definitely negatives to it. People can put sexually immature acts while video chatting which reduces the quality of it. Also, with it being free, it may be more difficult to find the person you are looking for where you might find it easier on a website.

Is Online Dating Safe?
The state of Illinois has just announced that a new internet dating safety bill has passed the Illinois House with a majority vote of 83-26. The new bill, known as HB4083, is aimed towards making online dating site users more aware of "who" they are actually interacting with online. The bill will require online dating sites to provide a disclaimer on their websites stating whether or not they conduct background checks on their users. There has been a rise in online predators through online dating sites since the online industry has become more and more popular and Illinois officials are hoping this will help control it. When most people hear the term "online predator" they immediately think of a guy trying to trick a female or younger person into believing they are actually someone else that can be trusted and then meeting up with that person. Michelle Mussman, an Illinois State Representative, says online predators actually have different goals in mind now. They are searching for anyone online that seems "vulnerable" and trying to get confidential or personal information that they can use to their advantage. Another Illinois Representative, Dennis Reboletti, is opposed to this bill as he believes that it will cause more harm than good. Reboletti believes that background checks can not be proved entirely accurate and will only provide online users with a false sense of security and could actually make the situation worse.

The author of this article decided to take on an interesting comparison between Online Dating and Netflix Instant. The author contends that using online dating is just laziness and lack of social skills. This mostly proves true at most people lack the social skills in order to go out and meet women. Studies have shown that women tend to be most interested in a man's personality, not his looks. And when online dating is used, how is it possible to get to know a personality over the web. Everyone looks like a champion on the internet.
Online dating is good in a few circumstances but it should not be used as your first option. Improving your communication skills will pay dividends for individuals willing to become more social and likeable by not using online dating.

Kingfish labs wants to help you date
Kingfish labs has raised $500,000 to turn Facebook profiles into dating profiles and friends into matchmakers. The app they have developed, Yoke, which has you first put in your dating information.
It will ask whether you are single or in a relationship. If you are in a relationship, then you will become a matchmaker and can introduce single friends to one another. But if you are single, that person can send a message to the secondary person.
The whole purpose of Yoke is to match up people who have similar interests and feelings about certain topics. Also, it shows mutual friends which is the whole basis of Yoke. It will be interesting if more social networking sites will continue to be turned more and more into dating profiles.
